About Symposium

Midwest Taiwanese Biotechnology Association (MTBA) is pleased to announce and invite you to join our Midwest Taiwanese Biotechnology Symposium (MTBS) in Chicago on 9/7 and 9/8, 2019. This symposium proposes to facilitate communication between Taiwanese biotechnology communities in the Midwest United States. This meeting will cover discussions including trending technology, career development, and workplace challenges. Professionals from both academia and industry will join us to share their precious experience. Our event also includes networking opportunities to help participants build their connections.

We invite three keynote speakers: Dr. Ying-Hui Fu, Dr. Tak-Yee Lee, and Dr. Wei-Shou Hu to share their thoughts and experience learned from their career. Following the keynote speeches, we prepare four panels:

  1. How to get your transition grants as post-doc and young PI
  2. How to spot emerging of bioindustry job opportunities
  3. How to prepare interview from hiring manager's point of view
  4. How to launch a successful career in Taiwan
Moreover, participants will have chances to promote their research during the lightning talk and the poster session. The roundtable section will be a perfect opportunity to have an in-depth discussion with our keynote speakers and panelists.

We believe this symposium will be a great opportunity for scientists in the Midwest to foster stronger connections and help them move forward to the goal. Please join us. We are looking forward to seeing you in Chicago.
